About

My name is Kate Treick, and I am a professional photographer.  I love photographing families because I get to preserve a particular moment in their lives in a way that can be passed down–in other words, I make a visual record of family history.

One of my primary hobbies is researching family history using the tools available online- a subscription to ancestry.com, occasional dips into military records, hours spent poring over census data. I love that stuff. (The fact that I pursued a few degrees in medieval history probably has something to do with it. You have no idea how easy it is to create a story from the bones of the 1860 census when you have become accustomed to trying to make your way through medieval court records.)

This blog is a collection of stories, research, anecdotes, photos–whatever I think might be of interest to my family or others who enjoy family history. I hope you enjoy your time here.
